How to meet people and make new friends in a new city?

Hi I recently moved to a new city. Obviously moving has left me feeling a bit homesick, and I think it's because I have no one to hangout with after the office. I would like to meet up with a group of people after office. As a 23 year old software engineer I have time on my hands but I feel like I am wasting it sitting in my hostel room on the weekends and after hours. OTT and doom scrolling has also started boring me, cause after a while how much screen can you watch.

To all the grapeviners older than me, what do you recommend so that I can make this city feel a bit like home?
