How to let good things go?
I have been working in an organisation for 6+ years now. The current team is too good and people are helpful. It's kind of a dream team you can get. But from the past few years the financial growth has been almost equal to nothing. I was frustrated with the financial struggle and I recently got an offer with a decent hike. My current company is not ready to match it. They are not ready to raise even 50% of what I have got. My manager is a good guy and is helpless at this moment because certain things are not in his hands.
This is the first time I am trying to switch out of my comfort zone and now I am in a state of confusion. I am not sure how my next team will be. I really wanted to stay in current company but certainly not at the cost of the financial struggle I am having. It's kind of losing one one side and winning on the other side. How do I come out of this state? How do I embrace the new chapter of my life? How do I prepare myself?

Hello brother always remember "Change is the only constant" and hope you will get good team in your new job .

Thank you. This is a much needed motivation.

Try to understand why it is a dream team and why team mates are so good. That is a team where opportunities are minimum or none. That's why you are having no financial growth. No opportunities=no competition=friendly environment. If team has good opportunities, the same team mates would be dancing on your chest to grab the opportunities and throw you out of competition. Come out of your comfort zone and face the real world.

Very realistic answer

I was in this same position about 8 yrs back. Lovely company , lovely people, chill work, and in my case they even matched my higher offer. But i eventually did leave after 5 yrs, not because of money but because the people I loved working with moved on. That was the trigger. Now when I look back, I still miss those days. They were the best days of my working career.
So bottom line, at some point things which make the current job amazing will change, question is are u willing to wait till then or leave the nest now

I have decided to leave the nest now. But like you said I am certainly going to miss those people.

I can relate to what you’re feeling. It’s never easy to leave behind a great team and a supportive manager, but at the end of the day, financial stability is a big part of life too. A good workplace culture is priceless, but if it comes at the cost of your long-term growth, it slowly turns into a burden.
Think of it this way, your current company gave you a solid foundation, great memories, and skills that shaped you. That doesn’t go away. Moving on doesn’t mean losing those good things; it just means carrying them forward into a new phase.
Uncertainty with the next team is natural, but you’ll adapt, just like you did when you first joined your current company years ago. Trust the experience you’ve built, stay open-minded, and remember that you’re not just switching jobs, you’re investing in your future.
Growth usually begins where comfort ends.

If they can let you go in a 6 minute call why can't u after 6 years

To be honest, I really don't care about the company. I have no attachment to the company. It's the people in my team which made me stay so long. They are very very generous.

Bro just leave the company, they are not your family members, that's the main problem for every one, you came to the company only to work, don't take the feelings to heart (ex I love this company, I like project people bla bla bla). Just came to the office, do your work , have chit chat with your colleagues but don't take too much to heart.
One more thing, corporate companies are not government jobs, they can remove you anytime heartlessly. So the final conclusion is to go ahead with a new company and explore life.
I know it will be a pain for you as you leave good team members, but you need to take action else you will get stagnant.

I have done something similar. I took the hike of 50% and switched. If the company is good I will stay for 2 or more years else I will switch after 1 year.

These days you should always keep striving for the better. The day you go in the comfort zone you are behind the race.

Indeed!

Nothing comes before your financial stability. Have seen ultra performers having 7-8 years stint in same company get fired when cost cutting hits the belt. Always aim for financial stability than any team or collaboration. Every one is secondary when it comes to your growth. After 1-2 years when you want to come back the same company will happily pay you more. Loyalty is never a good factor for personal growth untill you are a cut throat performer replacing your boss every 1-2 years

I get it. Staying at the same place doesn't lead you anywhere and loyalty is the worst thing you can seek in corporates.
