How to justify recruiter's on salary reduced

Got D band.. salary reduced ( monthly and quarterly variable pay ).. any creative ideas to justify potential recruiter's My idea - due to low attendance company not giving variable pay

Instead of saying about the appraisal just tell them that you didn't get any hike this year and ask on cctc instead of appraisal. I did the same thing
