Trending @Infosys; How to handle this?
I am currently on the bench. I was previously working on a project, and got moved to the bench recently. But my previous team is still contacting me for things that juniors are not able to solve. They ask for quick calls but eventually become long screen share sessions, affecting my tasks which I am supposed to do while on the bench as per bench policy.
Is this even acceptable? Shouldn't the manager/team supposed to get all KT even before the transition while the employee was allocated and part of the team? Also, I am not getting paid to further be responsible for my previous team as I am not getting 'billed' anymore putting effort into that team. At some point, I even thought of not responding to anybody from the previous project even if things escalated from their level. But just scared of what will happen.
My main concern is whether this reason (I was helping my old team so I am not getting time to progress with expected activities) is valid to HR/whoever concerned and responsible for me while in bench?

ignore. don’t answer the calls

I hope my previous project manager won't be able to take any action against me if I don't respond.

Clearly inform the manager about your situation that you will give ur time to ur project or to get project. If they want help then get u billed in it first then help.

Do not respond. Else just mention, i don’t remember

If you haven’t gone on central bench and in your unit bench you have to be still in good books of your previous manager. As he can very well let your DM know that you are not helping out despite being on bench. What are the expected activities on bench for you. My only suggestion would be don’t do without anyone knowing. Make sure everyone including your managers know about it that you are helping the team. I.e set up proper meetings when they ask for help keep the old manager in optional and send meeting notes at end of meeting.

just ask them to send a formal email to you from their manager copying your bench manager, that should help

Dont help unless you get allocated your PM can allocate in any project under him

Just inform them you have lot of works,if they really wants you let them take you back into project. Don't simply respond to all their calls
