How to handle a negative line in an experience letter

I recently received my experience letter from a former employer, and it contains a line stating there was a 'lapse with respect to company policies and code of conduct.' I'm concerned this might affect my future job prospects. Is it appropriate to request HR to remove or rephrase such a remark? Has anyone faced something similar, and how did you handle it?

Legally they can’t make it such that it becomes a hinderance for you to be hired again. You can take the employer to labour court for trying to make it difficult for you to be re hired or switch jobs. Because experience letters are meant to be neutral: just the tenure, designation, and maybe a brief role description.
