How to grow Monetary in IT for a service based Company

Guys, am in the industry since y2k problem. Today I will share my way of thinking to increase your CTC incomparable.

We are in service based Industry. Not product, and most of us in T&M time n material project. The other is fixed based. The concept is for TnM guys n I feel deep soory for fixed bid.

Now when u r in TnM, 1: ask your boss your per hr billing rate. My data is: Jr resources/p1/p2: 25 usd/hr Sr res/lead: 28 usd/hr Architect: 32-35 usd/hr

Now u ask ur boss ur hrly rate n promiss yourself next yr u will turn it to +3 usd/hr. Do whatever needed to prove your client that you deserve it from client n do that delivery before hand to gain trust.

Now, on contract renewal , dec month, ask your boss I want my rate +3 usd an hr plz keep that in mind. Put asking your boss again n again like how ur boss asl u for any job. Dnt leave it. This is something u should demand n can demand and no one even manager , hr, boss can't deny your request. You are not asking your CTC increment, u r asking bill high to customer for you as last yr rate cNt be continued.

They will say - this s sales guy job, not yours, then u say - it's my job too as u earn more and throw me back some. How do I ask salary hike if I can't make more profit to project?

This will be then in a such situation that your manager can hardly do that due to market conditions but why the hell we project developers, lead hv to think that. It's company job that marketting not us.

When u join a new project, ask ur billing rate. Ur hr, manager may not like it but I hv to ask it or else they will (client including) will treat u as labour with 22 usd/hr or may be less than that. If you sale yourself at 20 usd, it's u made u that begger - remember.

I hope u got my point. Sterve for it yr after yr rate high, prove that u r eligible for that and seek asking for that rate

This is actually underrated advice. Although I don’t know much at all about sbcs

Welcome Sir, First of all - if you are meaning sbsc as service based company and u said u hv no idea on that - then your comment is just null. Herey advise us to Time n Material based project and only to developers, leads and billed architects and to all who are billed per hr basis. A MANAGER WILL SAY SAME AS U SAY. as it's hard for managers to bargain client for rate high but that's not our job to think about. We code we earn.
