How to get rid of this "mafia"?
I'm a fresher at TCS Kolkata, allocated to the Bancs project, which wasn't my preferred location. After training, I was assigned to this Bancs project (internal project). The schedule is strict, requiring 9 hours of work daily, with no Work-From-Office (WFO) exceptions granted, even for medical issues. Leaves are also not adequately provided. All the micromanagement like checking no. of hours and all is here.
I'm feeling trapped as they're not granting releases and stating that a 2-year commitment is mandatory for location change. How can I get out of this project and location?"

Every time i fail to understand why do you guys think everything should revolve around you and your convenience.. So what you didn’t get your preferred location and so what you were assigned to internal project. What’s the big deal?? I agree about one point regarding micro management and no exception during emergency. If you feel you cant stand all of this then you have the option.. resign and look outside where you find yourself comfortable.

Okay, another perspective. This is a recurring issue and hasn't come only post COVID. Perhaps policies should be evaluated as to why the company needs such power over people to throw them anywhere without their consent. Like paying a rickshaw 50 Rupees and asking to work in Lonavala when his home is in Borivali. Recruit right. People in this company have the least value and are the only real resource.

@GorgeousCarnival to answer your question - if you are really unhappy, it's best you look for opportunities elsewhere. The path to change project and location is painful and will hurt you and your career. You and your project have a disagreement and unfortunately here they are the only one's with any power. Your power is choice, use it well. I would suggest do not spoil your rapport with the project, while you work on finding a more suitable option. This early in career your real assets are your curiosity and zeal towards work and life - try not to ever lose that.

Raise the escalation direito the leadership people and hr heads not single multiple persons from each firm find them by identifying in the teams or mail ID's reporting chain of each managerial people's raise the escalation continuously and two years mandatory is not an legal and this not govt firm for transfer things okay...you have legal rights also if they don't accept tell them you are going to take legal action... Your side not mistake it's clear so you no need to worry about things...

Stop doing the work, dont attend meetings, dont take calls. They will remove you from project eventually

Get out of this bancs COBOL. I myself completely 2yrs and resigned. They will not give you release at any cost so it's better to resign and look outside
