How to get on bench?

Hi guys,

I'm currently working on a development project. I want to shift to the Govt. Job. I've cleared the first exam with little preparation but to clear the second and final exam, I would have to prepare well. But I'm working from morning 9 to late nights daily in the current project and I'm getting no time to prepare. So, I want to get on the bench to prepare. What are the excuses that I can make to get on the bench or I can simply ask the management to put me on the bench. Please suggest me.
