How to get Internships for a Mechanical Engineering Graduate

I'm a B.Tech Mechanical Engineering graduate (July 2023 pass out) planning to pursue a Master's degree in the USA, with applications underway for Fall 2025. I have a great academic record, including a good GPA,resume and no academic backlogs. However, due to personal circumstances, I took a gap for a year and four months.

Currently, I'm actively seeking internship opportunities from November 2024 to August 2025, as I'm scheduled to depart for the USA in September. I'm unsure about the best approach to apply for internships and identify suitable companies and departments.

Could anyone please provide guidance on how to effectively navigate the internship application process and increase my chances of securing a valuable internship at a renowned organization?
