It’s not about contacts it’s all about how dependent project is on you and availability of opportunities, and most importantly your relationship with manager. If you’re lucky enough with all these you should lucky enough to get picked in lottery

Only through bucketing and managerial links/talent based(rare) , in case of us, first you should get picked up in lottery for h1-b then the process start after getting picked up, again its luck, where ever your food,water is there, you will go regardless of above, just look for oppurtunity and trails,
