Trending @Infosys; How to deal with improper ,or illogical requirements.

From past 1 month , i have been working with senior consultant, he is always unclear with requirements whenever i ask clearifing questions he either changes topic or says any buzz word that doesnt makes any sense. I am trying to work but dont what my work is and on daily status call he just changes my work and keep asking why isnt ot complete, other team members faces the same issue , but just copy paste what he spokes to copliot and get the work done and explains whatever they understand, i tried the same but it doesnt worked out for me. Also its not fullfilling and frustanting to just do random things.Today he gave me another task thats to big and almost everything is unclear and doesnt make any sense.(Can judge based my iq as a power programmer who solved all problems in OA without cheating , have been top 300 on codeforces in india , been awarded insta award on my first 15 days of working , but this new project is frustating) Hopefully i will find help here.

1st of all while you are working with the senior consultant as he is giving you tasks did he gave an overview of the task did he explain what to do and did you tell him you are not able to understand?

If yes , keep asking again and again not clear .. See if you are not clear with what you want to complete you will be frustrated and no use to even give the efforts as the goal 🥅 you are trying to achieve will far unreachable and will more or the less impact your motivation, frustration and not have peace of mind and will ultimately result to poor decision.

So if you have tried addressing all of the above and still you are stuck . I would recommend 2 options

  1. I assume the senior consultant is your reporting manager if not then probably project manager.. in both the cases reach to managers immediate reporting manager .ie DM or projects head . And tell him about your situation and ask him for help . So drop a email to him and ask for 1-1 team connect . If still things are not getting solved ask the DM for helping you get release .
  1. Apply for IJP / bridge .. set your skills in L& C portal and then setup your profile for IJP and then search for openings based on your key set ..

note: No one would be able to help you , unless you try to pull yourself up.. All will hear your story but only you can make a difference..So be positive it’s just a process of people management . Today you have this problem other day some other .. So relax and address 😊

Also he said he will give me bad rating if i am not able to do task by tommorow , i haven't argued him ever.

Email asking tech clarification, cc to manager is a good option.

Just keep asking him for clarifications. If he don't reply on teams, send a mail. If still no response, then reply on top of that same mail you shared but this time, put his senior on CC and request to respond. Even if not then reply again mentioning that you've been trying to reach out to them for a while and everything thing else. It'll work as escalation.

This worked for me and for a colleague whom I advised the same..
