How to change my project under the same account.

I got allocated to an account account after the interview for golang project a month ago. Since then they have told us to focus on DSA and practice golang for client interview.

I've not gotten any project yet. They told that first we will have a client interview then they'll map us to that project. But now after a month the requirements have changed and they're saying they'll map us to some support project with some python automation.

Now there is this another person who sits in the same ODC as ours he was looking for people for some genai project.

Now my question is... is it alright if I ask my manager to shift me under that guy or would it be offensive? What is a polite way to request this because I have knowledge in genai and would like to work on the same.
