How to break into Product Management with no experience?
Hey guys, I'm a software engineer (2 yrs exp) looking to transition to PM role. Finding it hard to get interviews without PM experience. Any advice on how to break in? Should I do any courses/certifications?

Transitioning from SWE to PM is common - leverage your tech edge. Start by taking product ownership in your current role - document feature decisions, gather user feedback, and analyze metrics. No need for expensive courses. Master SQL for data analysis and basic product frameworks like PRD writing. Build a portfolio with 2-3 case studies solving real problems (even hypothetical).
Many companies hire APMs from engineering - highlight your technical + collaboration skills. We've helped many engineers make this switch.

Consider APM programs in big tech cos. Specifically for career switchers

Network a lot. Many PM roles filled through referrals

Build side projects. Show you can take idea to execution

Do some PM certifications. Scrum, CSPO etc give you framework

Try for internal transfer in your company. Easier than external switch
