How to become a financial advisor?

I am an engineer with substantial experience in helping friends build solid financial portfolios. Now, I'm looking to transition into the role of a financial advisor, driven not by financial gain but by a genuine desire to assist fellow engineers. My goal is to leverage my experience to guide others, sharing insights and helping them avoid the mistakes I've encountered along the way.

Any ideas on how to get clients?

It narrows down to sales. However, build a website or custom presentation plan with clear cost and the details of the services you provide. Learn to network if you don’t already through fellow finance creators and join finance communities. This is a real small answers, I believe I am not equipped enough to provide you with more strong foundation. Although, I think these would surely help along the journey.

Hi, I too have a keen interest on investment advisory despite being from engineering background. I came across 2 certifications. One was NIMS for mutual fund advisory and other is SEBI Registered Investment Adviser (RIAs). I haven't gone into details, but worth exploring.
