How to be a data scientist from product analytics?

I am a product analyst with 4+ yoe. I am well verse with advanced SQL, all BI tools and I am able to findout patterns and trends mostly using SQL itself. I want to increase my salary, some of my friends suggested to try out data science roles as mostly the work I do is parallel.

Can anyone of you help me with below questions.

1. At this point how much can I expect in salary if I become a data scientist.
2. How to become a data scientist, any courses or any road map would be very much helpful, like what to study, where to study from etc.
