How to ask for release within a month of joining

Is it acceptable to request a release within a month of joining? Any advice on how to handle this?

Are there potential legal or process hurdles I should be aware of?

Reason: I’ve been selected for a role at Microsoft (confirmed verbally and via email, but the offer is pending release). Meanwhile, I need to join another firm, as they’ve declined further postponement of my start date.
