How much you have gained from SGB gold bonds?

I started buying 1-2 years back and have noticed great increase in them. Wondering how much people have gained over time… I want to buy more over time.

SGB is not worth it imo Why to hold 8 years unnecessary
You can buy gold etf instead of this Gives you almost same return and you know you can sell them anytime
Hypothetical scenario: What if after 8 years gold is giving new lower each day then?

You can sell them. You dont need to hold them for 8 years. They get traded

Some more advantages of SGB, if bought when issued:

  1. 0.5% discount to the prevailing gold price
  2. No tax on gains once sold after maturity
  3. 2.5% interest every year

FYI government has discontinued future issues of SGB.

It was an instrument they didn't plan properly, and didn't anticipate gold to move up like this, and now they owe tons of money to ppl when the bonds expire

As ling as we are in profit, all good. We can buy the ongoing SGBs through trading apps.

I wish I would've invested more, but at that time it felt very dodgy to invest in it.

People are still buying the last remaining SGBs from trading sites. I also bought very few when they were issuing. Glad to have the ability to buy them through trading apps

Yes but the old ones are getting traded. You can buy them through apps like Zerodha and make money.

I thought the same, planned to invest some amount every 6 months or 1 year. And then Nirmala aunty took the decision to discontinue SGBs
