Spending on supplements and tracking, I don't think you need a personal trainer unless you're obese/underweight and need someone to drag you through your workouts. :)

How do you get your form right?

YouTube and Mirrors.

I haven't experienced the need for a personal trainer although for form correction and feedback for growth i rely on my gym buddies who have been training for years ( I don't have abs, I've been going to the gym for 2.5years). Maybe if i had a trainer then but that wasn't my goal at the time.

Wow, should I get a trainer now ? Thanks, now your question makes me question my life decisions.

I paid around 4000 for 1month

That's too expensive. Was it worth it?

Yes, as someone who has never worked out in life, it's great! The trainer is attentive, corrects my form, has created personalized workout routine

I would say have a PT for a month or two until you learn all the machines, workouts etc and then you can go on your own.

A personal trainer may be worthwhile for a 3 month period let's say..will help you get discipline, diet recommendations, ideas, form correction, advise on your body type and goals. A good one can charge anywhere around 40k for 3 months with 40-45 classes. Results and objectives can be quantified, eg fat% reduction, weight reduction, muscle buildup, etc etc Otherwise, a gym with common trainers is obviously cheaper. The longer the plan purchased the cheaper it gets

On top of this, can add expenses for supplements (protein, etc depending on need) and any dietary changes

If you are new to working out, you should definitely work with a personal trainer. It is very important to get your form right in the beginning as working out with wrong form can lead to long term (and in some cases serious) injuries. Once you've got the form and the initial routine right, it is really your choice if you want to spend on it. I live in a gated society where I have access to a gym. I spend 1.5k pm on a trainer who is really good!
