How much did you spend on your wedding?
This is probably the most personal question I can ask but trying to level set my expectations on the big fat South Indian wedding I will be having this year

Around 15 including everything (gold, clothes, venue, catering, stay etc)

Btw ours was clearly not a big fat wedding by any means. We are also South Indians, but we were very clear on our expectations right from the start.

15 lakh , i don't even have this kind of saving

1.5 lacs. Love marriage, Arya samaj way. 🤫

Rs. 12-15k. Registry marriage during Covid and then bought a flat with all our savings. Obviously love marriage. When covid was over, family asked for a wedding function and we cited we are broke.
16L venue catering stay decorations 1.5L gold and clothes (including lene dene wale)

How many guests were invited @CookingBatman ?
200-250 guests

Advice from experience: please spend as less as possible. My parents spent around 25L on a traditional South Indian wedding - this is about 12 years ago. There’s no real upside. Wedding clothes are expensive and useless.
Bride’s sarees cost a lot and don’t have real use after that day. Clothes are the last place to spend money on. Best is to have a simple close family wedding and maybe a dinner for friends and extended family.
Getting married in June 2023, our budget is like 2 Lakh INR. Simple wedding with sub 120 shortlisted relatives.

How in 2L? One reception?
One simple low-key wedding and a small reception. Le fin.

3 to 5 Lakhs. Corona marriage 😁

One of my friend spend around 25 L ( North Indian wedding), boy side also 25 L was range

My wife and I spent Rs 50K for a small wedding In a mandir where we did the 7 phere and had a pandit. Just had the immediate family.
Additional cost was borne by my mom since she WANTED to buy my wife some gold and precious stones based jewellery.
This helped us furnish our house a lot
