How much beneficial would it be to learn UI designing as a college student??

I am a third year college student preparing for my placement but have a mere interest in UI designing, and am curious to learn software like Figma. But keeping in mind about the time limitations, how much would it help me in placement as well as in the long run.

Also ,just for the context I have interest in having my own startup , which I might pursue after having few years of experience.
