Marriages in cities are too expensive. If you look at a towns and villages , the same scale can be done at half the rate.
Bad PR for these marriages are because the online crowd and predominantly liberal and city based.

If marriages are a one time affair, this is certainly acceptable. Continuation of the generational customs are vital. Marriages are a chance for the clan to come together. If you ask liberal they would say it's a waste of money but go and buy torn clothes from zarra.
