How many hours do you spend in meetings?
If you work 8 hours or so in a day how many hours in the day are spent in meetings?
Stand up call - I did nothing! (15mins overall team, with some ted talk from manager) Handover call - I don’t have anything pending! (3 mins, without manager)

I end up wasting a lot of time in meetings, want to understand how to actually get any work done.
atleast, upon our req they removed the scrums. But new manager came, it’ll take time, but we’re gonna pitch to remove it again…it’s so time wasting!
We don’t have scheduled meetings, unless C levels annouucement, and for me there is a one hour mentorship weekly call, which I love and require for my learning.
But most of the time we’re on different calls, that is fun and we get the work done. No pressures!!

Was at a Lead PM role with a unicorn till Sept. Used to avg 38hrs weekly meeting time. (Calendar gives this insights)
Moved to an AD PM role at an async first co. Avg meeting time went down to 6-7hrs (75% of this would be 1-1 with reportees/ leaders on general catch-up). However, time spent on recording and going through looms has jumped significantly.

Back in my Big4 days (Tech consulting) a good chunk of the day would just go in these meetings. No wonder the work day spills over and goes beyond 8 hours. Thankfully my current org believes in meeting only if absolutely necessary, so we just have a stand up every day for around 30 mins. That is also cancelled sometimes if someone feels we’re all ‘meeting a bit too often’

After some not-so-useful meetings, I strongly feel there should be some button saying "It was not needed" in the calendar. How hard it is tried, the meeting problem is a tough nut to crack (IMO).

Haha that’s so true

Just one meeting on most days. During leadership visits or on 1-1 days with the manager, the number of meetings will be 2.

2-3 hrs per week. Remote job.

15 min only 😗
