How is the UI/UX industry?

I'm currently a software developer but I don't really enjoy coding or feel passionate about it. As a kid or in my younger years I have been good at sketching and designing stuff. So I'm naturally inclined towards something which needs some creative stuff like drawing, designing and stuff. But as the AI is booming I'm kinda in a stuck state whether to switch into a design role such as ui/ux. Will AI eat up these design and creative roles?

And how is the pay in UI/UX? What's the starting pay for a newbie and till how much the packages go depending upon the experience? Please give me some insights.. this would be really helpful as I'm at a crossroads of my life.
