If you are a female, I don't think astrology matters. Demand for females is pretty high and you are probably happy with some of the rejections. If you are a male, fight with your parents at all costs in dropping the horoscope constraint. They are doing you no good but under false impression that they are doing good because there is a good chance that you will end up a single man who won't mentally settle in life .

The fundamental principles of astrology used by most Jyotish are incorrect. It's a different debate whether it works or not. The principle is that Jyotish is meant to reject only extreme cases of mismatch, not find reasons to reject a match. Most of the folks use nakshatra mismatch, that's only valid for certain extreme mismatches. Astrology has gone to dogs in the current generation. Unfortunately parents are not well informed. It's better to avoid horoscope match because it's only ruining lives of people who genuinely want to get married but unfortunately get rejected at the first stage itself.

I am sick of Astrology aspect (and all other moronic religious aspects too). Even though I have convinced my parents not to keep this as a criteria, a few times the girls side insist on it, and it goes for a toss. Moreover, there is Mangli/Mangla concept too. I have Mangal Dosh, so once for a girl searching for Mangal guy, I thought to reveal the exact date/time etc, so that Mangal-Mangli will match and they will happily agree to marriage. But lo and behold, there comes the astrology part, the 32 f*king gunas and what not, and the horoscope didn’t match! So first, our Caste should match, then even sub-caste should match, Gotra must NOT match, then Mangal dosh should match, and then comes Horoscope match! Already girl-boy ratio is less in India, and even the girl-boy literacy rate and employment rate is less, and on top of that, these many idiotic criterions!!😡
You are 29! For God's sake don't give up on yourself and find yourself a woman! Date someone, get to know each other, assess the compatibility and get married! If you rely on your parents to take the most important decision of your life then you have already signed up to live as per their beliefs!

@1899 If arranged marriage is the only option, then you should make your package exceedingly high, like in the top layer, so that it compensates for everything else. You still have a few good years, focus 1 year dedicatedly on career and a good switch. There are many girls of 30+ age too around.

Yeah. US not possible, as direct H1B visa sponsorship is not possible. Don't want to spend lakhs on the master's for the sake of the visa or should move to a company which does L1 tranfer and work my ass off until I get transferred.
