How freedom looks now

74 days without work after 14 years of continuous employment. The strangest part? Some mornings feel like freedom. Some moments feel like panic. Both feelings sit in the same chest at the same time. I’ve been waking up without an alarm, taking my kids to their swimming camp, learning when the mood allows, resting without guilt. Simple things I never had time for. But here’s what this break is teaching me — Mood needs safety before it can do anything meaningful. No fixed routine forces you to ask what you actually want, not what the job needs. AI is reshaping the market fast. For some it’s a rocket. For others it feels like being force-fed until you can’t eat anymore. I’m waiting to get genuinely hungry again. And in the quiet, bigger questions are surfacing — What are we actually building? For whom? And what do we take when we leave? No answers yet.
