how do you know if what you're reading here is not sponsored?

let's say someone knows @salt personally and they pay him to promote something on GV.

how would we know if his review is genuine or paid?

along the same lines, how much trust should you place on reviews/testimonials/stories on an anonymous platform?

how do we know someone is not masquerading as someone else? what if I say I'm gaurav munjal, founder of Unacademy? (lol)

do you actively remind yourself to drink grapevine with a pinch of salt? (see what I did there)

is there a zero knowledge proof solution that could perhaps be applied here? to verify certain claims, stories or publicly available info?

So far, have not seen much content that seems blatantly planted as promo. But i like that gvine allows post’s introducing seed and pre-seed companies by their founders. I think it helps them gather initial impressions. But hope the mainstream influencer culture doesn’t doesn’t take over grapevine like other platforms.

That's what I'm saying, salt is basically a GV influencer at this point lol. Not saying i don't trust him, or i do completely, but i recently caught myself believing what I read here to be mostly true. I tend to forget taking a pinch of salt when using GV myself, wonder if others do too.

Just got recommended this. I mean, whatever you see on the internet take it with a pinch of "salt". The pursuit of finding evidence to the contrary is extremely important in my opinion.

"zero knowledge proofs" are a fad.

Let me explain why. No technology ever has gotten big by virtue of one having to express that it is great. You don't build a great company by saying AI/Web3/DeFi or whatever.

Great companies are built by having great tech under the hood, and providing true user value. Users don't care about the tech but what it does for them.

You know who cares about the tech? Enthusiasts. And that market exists too, albeit small but with higher AOVs.

That is why Zero Knowledge Proof/ Crypto/ AI/Web3 or whatever buzz word can only be sold to investors. Not to real users who care about what an app does for them.
