🧠How do self-taught devs get noticed without a CS degree, company names, or salary slips?
I’m a self-taught backend developer with 2.5 years of experience building real-world projects — APIs, data pipelines, web scraping systems — using Node.js, TypeScript, Python, and AWS.
I run my own GST-registered tech firm (not a pvt ltd), but I’m the sole owner, so I never drew a salary or created official payslips. Most of my projects are freelance work from individual clients I found through social media — no big company names, no formal contracts.
I’ve reached out to 10s of HRs on LinkedIn who posted backend roles, but never got a response. A referral from someone at Accenture told me my skills were good, but HRs usually want proof like company names, salary slips, or fixed roles to even consider a resume.
👉 For someone like me — how do companies really see this? Am I a dev with 2.5 years experience or just a fresher in their eyes?
👉 How can I get past ATS and HR filters without formal titles or documents?
I’m looking for a backend/devops role focused on Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, APIs, and scalable systems.
Any advice from developers or recruiters who’ve seen this path before would mean a lot. 🙏
