How do FAANG employees handle layoffs

Just curious, after getting job in these big companies clearing tough dsa n design rounds n what not, and still getting laid off regularily for whatever reasons, what motivates people to join in these. Guess you wont get much severance, if laid off for performance issues. How would you move on to next company with current high packages and why people are still crazy about these? I practically saw all FAANG companies laying off people recently and have plans in future too.
