How could your medical laboratory improve?
Tell me about the ideal medical laboratory that you would give your business to. Looking for pain points to solve in diagnostics. What do you need that the present labs are not offering. How do you decide whether the lab is good or not? What should a new lab do to get your attention (and money hopefully 😄)?

Startup kar rhe ho? See main problem is it is very costly for tests which are too common like thyroid , kft etc and while doing std testing there is no proper counselling and privacy and it is expensive lol

Bhai thoda detail do na. Lal path and all jo rates pe kar rahe hain wo already bahot cheap hain. Plus they have volume so they can bargain with suppliers better. New labs ke liye price pe compete karna possible nahi hai

We can do PCR tests for STDs and provide all privacy and proper counselling for further course of action but none of it is going to be cheap.

I need a real pathologist to sign the report. Have stopped getting tested at all the small collection centers which have started popping up all over the place or online via pharmeasy, 1mg etc. Got tested a few months back by pharmeasy. The number of tests is just bloated. They measure hdl, ldl and then count HDL/LDL and LDL/HDL and ratios like these as separate tests to just bloat up the numbers. My HDL/LDL is in normal range but the inverse ratio is out of normal range. How is this even possible? My conclusion is the pathologist is just a person signing randomly without looking at reports to keep costs low. SGPGI also does not accept tests done at such central labs as there is no ownership by any doctor. They accept reports only from labs where an actual doctor signs the report.

Valuable suggestions! Now a days it takes more than just a pathologist to actually do quality work in a diagnostics lab. For infectious diseases you need a microbiologist (cultures and antigen, antibodies etc) and for clinical chemistry (kft, lft, etc) one needs a MD biochemistry. Pathologist does not have much training in microbiology and biochemistry, and vice versa. Ability to sign and actual experience in doing the tests and reporting are two different things. But doing quality work costs money, and I want to understand what price point are people comfortable with so that accordingly I can make decisions on hiring and what tests to start with. I can hire the best and follow the best practices but none of that means anything if the market is not ready to support the pricing.
