How bad is the PM job market in India?

I have been talking to two of my seniors 1 from ISB and 1 from IIM. Two different individuals from different companies.. Both are out of job for more than 4 months now. They are not getting any calls from more than a month and the ones that interview was given and went till last satge are now ghosting.. so just want to understand how's the market currently.. My company is also under financial stress and that's causing me panic..

It is bad. There are very few companies hiring at the moment and even for that competition is sky high due to number of applicants. And no one is willing to pay what your friends were getting in the hype cycle last few years.

Having said that, if you are genuinely good in your craft and have a deep understanding of the problems and solution space in your domain, you will find a home but you will need to swallow your pride and accept the adjusted comp levels

True. They were being asked to join for compensation that's almost half of their current.. and even if everything went well till the last stage, there's always someone who undercuts at compensation..

This is not a market for generic PM skills. Its a market for SMEs who can quickly push products or improve the company.

This is the reason. Another reason in this case might be ISB/IIM with no technical chops.
I’d much rather hire a great solutions engineer and meld them in a PM than taking crap

Market is average only....up and down like a stock but is range bound...no bright offshoots as such till the time investment scenario changes
