Whats the highest amount you have heard as someone having in retirement instruments like PPF/EPF. I'm trying to estimate whats the limit if all odds go well. This is not goal question - it's someone you know who has been able to achieve it

In PPF you can max save 1.5 lacs in a year which will give you close to 40 lacs at 7.1% (current ROI) after 15 years. You can extend it 5 more years with additional 1.5 lacs a year and it will be close to 66 lacs. If looking at more than 1cr, you have to do two PPF, one in your name and one in spouse name. Can easily make more than 1 cr. At 15/20 years from the investment.
EPF doesn't give huge amount as the amount is less which you save every month. I'd assume probably 30/40lacs maximum if you work upto 60 years.
You can keep extending PPF beyond 20y, 5y every time.
EPF: max Contribution is 12% of basic by employee +12% by -er. For high salaries, annual contribution can easily go beyond 1.5L, as with 99% of grapeviners ;)
