Higher education: sooo not worth it
After skipping a master’s (in eng, not MBA) and going for online certifications, here’s what I’ve learned about education in India - Traditional degrees don’t teach job-ready skills like SQL, Python, or Power BI, which are really needed for roles like data analysis or fintech jobs.
Certifications are faster and cheaper, and platforms like Coursera and Udemy have targeted courses (e.g., Google Data Analytics, IBM Data Science) that can be completed in 3–6 months for a fraction of the cost of a degree. Certifications helped me land a remote job paying ₹6 LPA after just six months of learning. Compare that to 2+ years and ₹10+ lakhs for a traditional degree with no guarantee of returns. Yeah… no thanks.
Practical projects are important. Employers care more about the dashboards you’ve built or the datasets you’ve analyzed than the name of your university.

Why would anyone join a masters degree in English expecting to learn SQL and Python? This is so absurd. And that's not the point of Uni education. Uni education is required to master the subject and develop critical thinking skills.

How did you got the remote job?
