High TC like in Amazon traps you more when it comes to switching
Basically it’s harder to switch unless u crack interview of equivalent paying companies IF they’re hiring. Agree?

Also amazon stocks are heavily back loaded, there’s more incentive for managers to ~~fire~~ PIP you within 1-2 years. Retention numbers confirm this

Ya, I am just checking if people realise this bcoz in current market high TC folks are being asked to take a pay cut if they want to switch.

Don't agree. There are ample opportunities for folks making a switch which can easily beat Amzn TC.

I would agree for 2022 market. Try now

Ryt now opportunities are less but still possible. And this can be the case with any high paying unicorn/faangmula.
People just need to be aware of companies like Amzn where things can go south very quickly. So they should have a backup plan ready.

I'd like to believe it's about impact. The work you have done will make people pay you what you want if they want you in their team

i kind of dont agree. i was in amazon in finance and was given a hefty package plus esops. The fixed amount includes basic and sign on bonus. The 1st 2 years is when you can take the decision to leave cos skip 3rd year, the 4th yr onwards it is a good hike in base pay with role change ( if appraised good).. overall it is easy if its in the 1st 2 years

Absolutely

Plus those who joined while it shares were overvalued in covid are at more disadvantage as stocks are down and neither vested so cant sell or leave…
