Hi my grapevine community,

My TCS project is sending me to Glasgow, UK for long term. In June, I will complete 2 years in TCS. I was planning to switch and even started giving interviews. I got some offers also but I won't join. I will give more interviews till June. I have total 8.7 years experience. My TCS manager has told me that this is a critical position onsite and I will have to be travel ready. He asked for my consent. I said yes, but I told him that my husband will accompany. They will start the my onboarding process for client next week. It will take time. I won't be sure until I get my Visa.

I am a Salesforce developer and also have good Salesforce Marketing Cloud Experience. I also do freelancing. I end up earning good. That combined with a switch, earnings will increase.

What should I do? Should I go for a switch? Or should I wait for onsite? Also, If I switch, what companies should I try? Same Service based companies like HCL, Wipro, IBM or should I try for Salesforce organization, consulting firms, Big4s? I need to make up my mind.

Please guide me. I need your opinions before making a decision.

In my opinion it's not worth it. Your husband may have to struggle if he is not employed quickly. It would be better to change here with good hike. For your experience 30LPA shd be a very reasonable package at offshore even in a good service company, product based orga will certainly offer higher. Do you mind sharing what kind of freelancing you do and how much you make out of it?

I give consultation to international clients on Salesforce Tech. The freelance income varies every month. But I am able to earn atleast 1 lac per month. Mostly, it's more than that.

You get indian salary + UK allowance. Glasgow is not as expensive as london. People of Glasgow friendly. Take decision based on your goals.. if you want to stay in India then you switch. UK visa processing done will be completely in 2 months time and UK visa is very straightforward you get it 100%.

Pls go with the product based company instead of service based companies. Do check for counter offer offers in case of service based companies.

I left a product based company in 2022 to join TCS, now regretting my decision.
I had a dream of working in TCS , so joined it without any counter offers.

Make sure its for really long term otherwise many times it happens that they will send you back after 6 months saying budget constraints from client side
