Hi folks, need your suggestions here:

I am 30F, was working in a MNC on the people mngtmt side, wasn’t happy with pay so left job with an intention of taking a break for 3 months & to search further. But to my fate marriage got messed up totally & got separated which led the recovery break to 1.5yrs now. Have been upskilling myself in the meantime but haven’t been getting any job opportunities in my line.

Now I have got an assistant job interview scheduled in IISC which is a temporary/contract type role & also way too low salary compared to the MNC but a fixed 9hrs job. I had applied to earn some income instead of continuing to be jobless as my savings are almost drying up.

My question here is: I want to join back MNC once I get a relevant opportunity due to the pay component (I need to start my life from the scratch now & also support my parents). So can I take up this job or not for the moment as I have heard if u go for a low salary job you can’t get the good pay u deserved later on in MNC as it will be based on ur previous paycheck.

  • Can’t hide the employment as you’ll get it in PF contributions.

Looking for some insights, please assist.

@Babuwa grab it, start atleast. You might not get good work or pay but it will keep u engaged, it will help u stop overthinking on many other unnecessary thoughts. On top of that, you will have enough earning for survival, and saving,if a surplus. Meanwhile, you can always search and prepare for job in MNC. If u join the opportunity, u will meet a lot of new people, broaden your network, make friends and extra contacts working in MNC. So, eventually you will expose urself to current job market trends and once u get a chance in MNC, switch!!!

Thank you for ur thoughts, I do agree with all of your points. My only concern was if it will have any impact on my future prospects in MNC.

Dont not take, better wait and aggressively search and get the desired one.

Try upskilling and if possible try to stay in tech only. Apply in startups as well you have good yoe ig since you're 30 so you can easily get a job there. Btw where are you applying for jobs like on which portals ??, also keep a check on how prepared you are, so in case of any opportunity you clear their interviews. All the best :).
