HFT work culture sucks or the problem is with me?
I recently joined an HFT in Bangalore. Prior to this I worked at an early stage startup for 6 months and before that I worked for a big tech for a few years. As soon as I arrived here, I got couple of big projects to do on my own. No hand-holding at all, not even some genuine KT sessions. Every type of work is on individual basis so I don’t have any friends either. On top of that, if you lag behind even a little bit or you don’t progress as per your boss’s expectations, you are scolded. Has working in big Tech lowered my bar of expectations of this is actually not good culture?
Getting scolded is never a sign of good culture. It highlights the generally greedy, insensitive and unprepared temperament of the upper management.

But why did you join the startup?
There is a reason why they pay so well. Even more than FAANG.
They only tolerate top shelf performance from everyone. Even if you are a new joiner, they expect you to hit the ground running and over deliver.
I think HFT culture is not that good not sure if thee are some good ones too
How is the pay there compared to faang?
Work environment in any smaller and fast moving organisation, will be almost always very hectic. But the scolding part may not be everywhere. Read about PayTm etc too.
