Trending @Accenture; Helped colleague with money now he is not returning.
I had joined to new project and this project team was building newly. One of the team mate who is not from my location and not I know him and not even saw him. Called me and informed his 6 months child injured very badly and need 40k for hospital treatment continuation, will payback in day or max by 2 days. and on humanity basis I transferred him money.
Now it's almost 50 days, not receives call or nor replies to messages. After calling 10-12 times, responses once or twice saying I will give you money and so again same new excuse or lies.
Project released him to bench as he was on long leave (3 weeks).
What are my best options here to get back my money.
Sometime helping also becomes curse. I have my own emi's and commitments.

Itβs not humanity. Itβs foolishness. Anyways lesson learnt hard way. Never lend money unless you donβt want it back. Not only to colleagues, itβs true for family and relatives too.

If he was an Employee, his baby would have got covered under insurance. Why did you even lent him money? Also if he needed money, he could have took advance salary from Accenture, used credit cards etc

I know bhai, sometime we blindly trust people. and becomes victim unknowingly.

Report to his immediate lead. Canβt do much from your side. Only his lead can take action against him.

But what lead will do..Lead is for technical help and official help..This is financial and kind of personal stuff..What actions can be taken by lead ?
P.S: Asking genuinely in case in future I will go through the same situation and can help them as a lead.

NEVER EVER LEND MONEY ESPECIALLY TO COLLEAGUES specially as we never get to see in-person.
There have been multiple similar incidents in Accenture. They ask for money then they leave the organisation. If even after multiple requests money is not returned and you feel he has scammed, file an FIR against him and reach out to HR so that he cannot scam others(but HR won't be able to help much apart from warning others)

Understood bhai!!

And most importantly don't lose sleep over it if money is not returned. It's just a part of learning we are all human. Many people get scammed some with money some with relationship few some other ways. Think it could have been a bigger amount.

You will not get back that money so leave that and be in peace

Yes,the same happened to me also π He is not my colleague but a friend..He was a very nice guy, a good friend of mine ..Even when we meet he almost pays all places, when I ask for at least splitting also he says no..
All of a sudden asked me for 25k due to some legal dispute going on with his family.. Without a second thought I gave him full 25k..Even I didn't say like may be can give 10k or 15k...Then he disappeared ..Not picking up my call..Blocked me from all social media places..
When I asked his one of our mutual friend he is saying no legal dispute is there..He was lying..Don't know what is the actual reason still...
I have to forget that money now and move ahead π₯Ίπ₯Ί

Forget the money, it's gone, only way is to fight him and get it if possible.

It is a pretty difficult time for you.Just check with him to give a small amount monthly which you need to pay emi.
Definitely his child would be still in hospitalization. So most of the salary he would be spending for his child. So he will not give you money until his child recovers.

Hmmmmm
