Help needed in preparation

Hi all I joined infosys as a fresher. Its been 5 months i am on bench and not able to get projects. I want to leave and join any product based company. How to start the preparation and what are the resources. Any help will be appreciated. Also the hiring goes all around the year or there are particular periods.
