Help me decide.

Me and my wife are earning together around 15 lpa. We have our own 1bhk home and some agricultural land as well. No debt at this moment. We are planning for our first car in the family, we are looking for Toyota hyryder which costs around 16 lakhs, we both liked the car and saving some money as well for it. We have saved 2 lakhs so far.

I am having second thoughts: should I go for hyryder or I should buy any compact SUV such as nexon, xuv300 or sonet etc. So that I can save approx 4-5 lakhs in the car and invest somewhere in gold or so. My wife is emotionally attached to hyryder and insisting for the same.

Can't decide which one to go for... I am planning to purchase a car by the end of this year.

Need to consider the maintenance and operational cost as well.
