Heartbroken with the Google selection process.
I have been preparing to get selected at Google for months. My interview process lasted for more than 1.5 months.
Cleared 6 back to back rounds with positive feedback and had my last coffee chat round with the hiring manager last week. He had an overall experience of 20 years.
After a few days, I got a call from the recruiter informing me that all 6 interviews and coffee chat round feedback was positive. However, the hiring manager got a recommendation for an internal candidate and decided to proceed with the internal candidate.
I asked the recruiter multiple times if they have received any negative feedback so I can improve. And the recruiter said, I honestly don't have any negative feedback for you and I too am as shocked as you are.
Being someone with very limited education from tier 3 college and coming from a poor financial background. It was going to be a life changing opportunity for me.
I reached out to a lot of Google people (both recruiter & non recruiters) with whom I connected on LinkedIn to seek guidance as to what I should do in such circumstances. Every single one of them just ignored my message after seeing. The cooling period at Google is also 1 year so I can't even apply for other opportunities.
It's funny how easily some life changing opportunities can go away just like that. I'm really heartbroken with this experience.
Most people don't get into Google on the first try. Try a few more times. It's all part of the recruitment game, you can't get heartbroken over it.
I know some people who stagger interviews at different FAANG companies throughout the year, every 2 months or so. By the time they complete 5-6 interviews, the year has passed and they do the same cycle next year, as the cooling period of different companies complete in the staggered manner throughout year.
A lot of advice from dating also applies to job search. You should not have "one-itis", i.e. your goal should not be to date a specific XYZ person, it should be to find and date any good partner. So you deal with any breakup and move on to the next person without heartbreak.
Same with job search, your goal should be to get into any good FAANG company, not just Google. Keep interviewing for different FAANG companies around the year, and sooner or later you'll get into one. Good luck! 👍

Thank you so much for the advice

Dont be sad boss.. there are better orgs compared to google.. good luck buddy.

Will keep trying. Thankyou

Don't worry at all. I know this for a fact that if you have cleared all rounds at Google or have very positive feedback then you enter a pool for the next 6 months. Google recruiters will try to map you to the new opening, they also have invested a lot of time on you. Be optimistic and be prepared, you might get a call again from their recruitment team for a role suitable for you

Hey bro no worries shut happened in life don’t take personally move on get into better than google !
Let me know if you need any referrals in Gojek i will happy to refer you

I heard if you clear all rounds you have a 1year teammatching period, am i wrong?
