This is one example but if you want more, the soldiers on the border, the metros you travel to work to, the Chandrayan that landed on the Moon, the IIT and NIT all are funded from Tax payers like us.
IIT/NIT are not completely founded by tax money, Annual fee at IITs are around 2.5L you can get a decent private college for the same fee.
Everything you've included only constitutes a small percentage (<<<50%), where does the rest of it go?
So 1% of our taxes are invested in the right things.

Govt subsidies in the right sector builds nations.
Just impose the same taxes on the 'farmers' and I am happy to throw away even more money.
All this when miniscule % people actual pay any direct taxes, imagine when everyone pays their fair share.
I mean even small country like Uzbekistan has flat 12% income tax from minimum wages factory labour to ceo, at the very least it's habit forming.

Tax payer's money is spent inefficently
No one has disregarded good schemes
One scam or bail out washes away most of the taxpayers money (ex- Air India bail outs )
