Reality check: If you’re new to the organization, your Variable Pay = 0%. Not maybe. Not possibly. Definitely ZERO. Welcome to the club of “Thanks for joining, here’s no bonus!”

They’ll tell you it’s “performance-based”, but the only thing performing here is the illusion. So when negotiating, load up your fixed pay — because Variable Pay is just that… very able to disappear. 😅
