Have Indians become more self-centered than say a few decades ago?

I wish Indians became more self centred and less neighbour centered.

We dont have a choice. In a populated country like ours, where a single mistake a mean the difference between generational wealth and poverty, we are always in a battle mode. This lifestyle is a result of policy mistakes of the 70's and 80's.
