Has your current/past employers laid off people due to reasons other than performance?
I wanted to understand how common it is for companies to lay off employees due to reasons other than performance. Please comment on what was the reason given?
Also, do you think it is more common in large corporations or the rate of such layoffs is the same for startups as well?

I was let go because of budget issues. But I was given 2 months of notice. But found another job after 3 months. By the time I joined I was 2 months without pay. But I had great rapport with HR and my leadership, so I was able to get experience letter such that, there wasn't any gap in my experience.
