Has UX Design lost its value? Not because of AI

I feel it has as every person getting into this career has misunderstood this path of designing. People are considering it as a just another easy career to get into and make more money. This career is becoming like engineering, and will lose its value soon.

Not their fault, the onus lies on all the vultures who are teaching design with a tag of become ux designers in X days/weeks, some of them are even advertising job guarantee. The entry looks easier to the aspirants because they don’t know what they don’t know. They made to think that UX design is just learning Figma and following that 5/6/7 step process. They are many on LinkedIn on who are mentors or call themselves seasoned with just 1-3 years of experience, seasoned with chilly flakes and oregano?

Then there are cohort of people who are doing it for self branding, they will go to all sort of events, colleges, and meet-ups to blabber anything they like, I have started to see these folks even going to scripted podcasts and speak all BS.

These things are not real problems, the real problem is the aspirants who don’t know much about this field and brainwashed to think it’s easy entry ends up believing in all those BS and eventually dilute the talent pool. They are just adding to the noise and making it difficult for hiring managers and employers. The real ones who understand the field and really want to learn, they get lost in the noise. The day is not far this will become worse than engineering and the onus would be on all these self proclaimed mentors and leaders who are really solid on LinkedIn cringe but hollow on the actual knowledge and experience. Above all it all depends on demand supply.
