Hard to survive office politics.. Still trying to comprehend after 17yrs of experience in this same org

I have been with this same org for more than 17 years now and time and again keep changing projects because of one or the other issues. Now people assume my lack of understanding or knack of breaking this politics itself as a strategy.. It's pathetic and painful to go through these and it's interfering in everyday's work and interest to visit office itself. Job market also is not welcoming for the years of experience I hold. Any advice?
