Halo Effect and your Resume
Want a killer resume?? First go ahead and kill the HALO EFFECT
Never heard of it?? Okay let me explain - start by deleting your name from the resume Delete your email and phone Delete that LinkedIn and other social links Delete those company names now Delete the title now Delete the alma materโs name youโre so proud of
Now whatโs left? probably not much
Now read the content - would you hire this person? You would be surprised by how many resumeโs entire value crumbles without those shiny distractions and well the person in question has a serious problem to deal with now.
Want to know the GOLD standard of resume benchmarking for self? After you do the halo exercise - Your content should hit like a sledgehammer. You content should scream - VISUALISED - like you saying - here - visualise how I work, what value I bring to the table. VERIFIED - like you saying - here - look at my results and outcome. Go ahead and verify them - I walk my talk. AND THE ABOVE TWO - should stay - UNIQUELY UNIQUE TO YOU.
Want to go even more advanced -> do this -> If you have 5 jobs on your resume, delete the 2 oldest ones. If you have 5 bullet points for each job you had, delete 2 of the least impactful bullet points. Now think - would someone still hire you?
Itโs going to be a tough reality check, it will HURT But I bet itโs going to be worth it Dig deep, rebuild, and while at it - maybe do some soul-searching

Is grapevine new linkedin?

Yes. We are too late

Yoo, is this real he who remains?

Wonderful, similar approach can be used to choose life partner if you really want a genuine person...

How?

We don't choose life partners, it just happens.. believe in the magic..

Thats how google scans for good resumes

And then proceeds to hire from T1 colleges.

Nope, this is largely untrue. I have been in the process of applying for generic roles with some amazing work-ex and tier 1 college degree. Itโs not the case. I have seen people with far more acceptance rate without shiny credentials and depth in resumes.

Bro I'm gonna do this, and report back
More because my resume doesn't have the big names I can fall back on. I'm my work and what I bring to table
But sledgehammer, that's missing

I read this post in a screaming voice

Thatโs some solid advice. Thanks
