H1B Visa vs India

Hi Everyone,

I am currently working in SAP, India.

I applied for H1B visa this year and got selected in lottery. However, the company which sponsored me is not that much reputed company. The company is small (around 100 employees) and they provide SAP consulting services to their clients. This company has not asked me to pay any VISA fees or any other fees. They are sponsoring me everything.

Is it wise to move to USA and work for this small company ? Or Stay in India with SAP for the better brand value ?

The salary is similar comparing with Purchasing power parity between USA and India.

Any advise on this ? Thank you.

Totally depends on your situation.

  1. If you are single, go ahead and earn some real money. The amount of savings would be very high as compared to India
  2. Read about the company, connect with someone over linkedin from the company and ask for their experience
  3. If you are married, wouldn't be a wise decision to go unless you see good saving potential i.e a higher salary( because your partner can't work through H1B dependant)
  4. Also if you are planning to leave , check for the taxes in the state you would be moving

You can randomly apply for H1B without being in the USA?

It is not randomly. You can be in India or anywhere in the world. The employer in USA need to provide you a job and that employer will sponsor you for H1B visa.
