That's how it works in TCS they give you hike but you will get nothing in hand. They will show you mountain but finally you will see stone in your hand. If you ask they will ask you to hold that stone in your hand compare with Mountain size(which is far away somewhere)

If it's a question about what you want then the answer specially for TCS context is - you don't want any variable pay, all fixed. However that won't happen. TCS increases variable pay to nullify and negate the impact of your hike. Basically you will really that you are getting less than the previous year despite a hike in CTC as your hike is mostly in variable and TCS does not give full variable anytime at least for past 8-9 quarters. Don't get fooled.
