Gurgaon vs Bangalore discussion

We know blr has great weather but terrible traffic. While, gurgaon has better roads and infa but terrible air quality. Which one would you prefer to settle down with wife and 3 years old kid? (I'm planning to relocate from Chandigarh)

How about neither? Jaipur, Lucknow , chandigarh over bangalore, mumbai, Gurgaon anyday.

Ncr on the whole is better than bangalore though, in my opinion.

It’s better to be near a city with better infra tbh. Bengaluru infra is unlikely to improve by a large magnitude. IGI is close and you have direct flights to anywhere across the world.

Bengaluru is hands down the best place to stay but raising a family means something different altogether. You want proximity to immediate family members and relatives for a support system.

Given Chandigarh and Gurgaon are closer than Bengaluru and Chandigarh, you might wanna think about that.

AQI is not the best in Gurgaon, Infra is not the best in Bengaluru. Weigh them based on what matters more.

Both cities are pretty cosmopolitan if you stay in posh neighbourhoods. Gurgaon kind of ekes out Bengaluru personally because of current media coverage on Bengaluru incidents against Indians from other states.

Uber/Ola availability much better in Delhi-NCR hands down compared to Bengaluru.

Choose what matters the most to you.

  1. Gurgaon also struggle with infra...search after rain articles...

  2. No metro in gurgaon

  3. High crime rate...u can't roam in night like blr

  4. Hit n run cases across ncr

  5. Kannada issue is with blue collar not white collar... Nobody see such issue in electronic City or Whitefield.

I prefer village over metros anyday tbh

  1. Ofcourse it does, but when compared across the board definitely much better.

  2. Um, I literally use Metro in Gurgaon. So much so that I use it to get to office from Delhi everyday and that’s purely walking.

Once you get on Rapid Metro you just need to switch at Sikanderpur and you can go anywhere in Delhi within 60 rupees.

I’ve used Bengaluru Metro as well to go to office, it’s good but the network is not that advanced, will take another decade or two to get there.

  1. I agree, this is an issue.

  2. Agree but to a lesser extent, over representation in the media.

  3. Massive disagreement here, I know many people smacked by locals for speaking in Hindi or verbal altercations that have happened because of this.

There is certainly a strong outsider resentment in core Bangalore.

Electronic City and Whitefield is Outer Bangalore. Can’t really compare. Probably the same as comparing Mumbai to Navi Mumbai or Noida to Greater Noida.

Traffic isn't a big issue when compared to air quality...you can google impact of bad air on Children iq development

With metro network across Bengaluru and in next 3 to 5 year almost all part will be metro accessible... Bengaluru should be 1st preference.

Two disadvantages which I see is bad water quality and away from home ( holds true for all metro btw)

Gurgaon has better roads? Where? Takes me 55 mins from sec 66 to cyber hub in rush hour.

Don't leave Chandigarh. You will love your city even more after moving to either of these places.

My thoughts:

Gurugram:

  • better infra
  • better food (I personally think so)
  • better outstation activities in the north
  • you get Ubers on time

Bangalore:

  • awesome people
  • awesome weather
  • great jobs in tech

Gurgaon wins in so many places - extremely good infra, food, lifestyle

BUT, given you have a child, the AQI is just a big no-no. It can potentially lead to many problems.

Bangalore it is.

Got it folks. Thanks
Let me add a little more details: My wife works in tech. I work in non-tech. Both in, you can say, high paying jobs. So, locations other than Gurgaon, Bangalore are not possible honestly. I would love to stay in Chd but WFH is not there in my next job (post job switch). Wife has WFH currently

Escaping the Traffic problem in your hand with More than usual rent- It's your choice if you can take any flat near your office so traffic problem is minimised.

Gurgaon - you, your wife and 3 year old kid will not do anything for air quality and may lead to many health problems

For me being as a traveller in low package i can travel 4 hour for my kid and wife(If your package is 12 or Less LPA)
